| The Officers and Members of the Watch Hill Fire Department would like to recognize the service of former Lieutenant Lance W. Murphy who stepped down as an Officer at the Department's Annual Meeting on July 15, 2014. This marked over 50 years of continuous service in the fire department for the man affectionately known as "Uncle Lance" by many in the department.
Lance began his service in the fire department when he joined the now defunct Washington Fire District of Coventry in 1956. In 1965 Lance joined the Dunns Corners Fire Department where he served with distinction rising through the ranks to Chief of Department where he served from 1995 until 2001. Lance later joined the Watch Hill Fire Department where he has served as an Officer and mentor to many of the department's members.
On behalf of all the members and the Watch Hill community as a whole we would like to thank Lance for his many years of devoted service. |
