The Watch Hill Fire Department began 2026 with an urgent response, assisting in the rescue of a dog that had fallen through the ice in Misquamicut. Upon arrival, members of the Misquamicut Fire Department found the dog cold and struggling to stay above water. Firefighters acted quickly, inflating a recently acquired ice rescue boat while others prepared to enter the freezing water.
Once properly equipped, firefighters approached the dog and safely brought him back to shore, reuniting the animal with his owner. This successful rescue demonstrates the dedication of the department's volunteers, who remain prepared to respond to emergencies at any time. The department extends best wishes for the New Year to all members and their families.
