On Sunday, Watch Hill firefighters participated in a mutual aid water supply and tanker training exercise in Ninigret Park in Charlestown. The joint training simulation was developed and coordinated by the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League.

The first portion of the training was instructional with four different training stations providing firefighters the opportunity to review water supply and tanker operations including Nurse Tanker Operations, Dump Site Operations, Fill Site Operations, and Safety & Communications.

The second portion of the training involved a "real time" water supply and tanker training evolution. This involved responding apparatus into the simulated scene in a timed manner as if they were arriving at an actual fire scene.

In total, over the course of the two hour simulation, over 130,000 gallons of water were shuttled approximately one mile from the scene using thirteen Fire Tanker trucks. This water was then flowed at the scene through two Fire Ladder trucks at the rate of 1000 gallons per minute while several Fire Pumper trucks provided support at the simulated scene as well as at the two dump sites and the three fill sites.
