On June 9, 2011 at approximately 11:45 PM the Watch Hill Fire Department, at the request of the Westerly Rescue, responded to a report of a possible boat in distress in the area of the Pawcatuck River. Marine 102 was the first Watch Hill Unit to respond and did an extensive search of the area from Bay Street to Avondale. Marine 100 followed a short time later and searched in the area of "The Kitchen" to Sandy Point. After meeting up, the two boats continued their search into Connecticut waters.

After over an hour of seaching with no sign of the vessel in distress, the search was discontinued and the incident was turned over to the United States Coast Guard.
