Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Deputy Chief Jason Simmons
June 25, 2022

On Saturday June 25th at 10:21 the Watch Hill Fire Department was requested to respond to a possible helicopter emergency landing in the area of the Watch Hill Lighthouse. Initial reports were unable to determine whether or not the incident had occurred on land or in the ocean. As a result both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as the United States Coast Guard were requested to respond. Further information received while responding determined that the pilot had made a "hard landing" near the Watch Hill Lighthouse after experiencing mechanical issues while on board. The pilot was unharmed and refused medical attention. In all a total of 12 Watch Hill Fire Department members responded and we thank them for their dedicated effort.

Units: Engine 102, Engine 103, Squad 100, Truck 100, Marine 100, Car 101, Car 106

Mutual Aid: United States Coast Guard, Westerly Ambulance, Westerly Police, Federal Aviation Administration
