Acting Chiefs Scott Harold and Dennis Reall are pleased to announce the hiring of Watch Hill’s new Fire Marshal. Christopher D. Moore started at Watch Hill FD last week as the Firefighter/Fire Marshal but is no stranger to the finer points as an emergency responder or working as a fire inspector.

Chris comes to Watch Hill after spending the past 16 years as an Inspector and eventually Senior Inspector for the Rhode Island Division of the State Fire Marshal. During his time working for the office, Chris was assigned as the Inspector for all of Rhode Island’s largest public event venues, convention centers, the Campus of the University of Rhode Island, Electric Boat at Quonset Point, and as the Fire Marshal’s delegate to the community on Block Island. He holds the NFPA’s Certified Fire Inspector 1 and 2 certifications and is an NFPA Certified Plans Examiner.

In addition to his time at the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Chris has been a Volunteer and Call Firefighter-EMT for the Hopkins Hill Fire Department in the Town of Coventry, RI for 20 years. He served the Hopkins Hill community “With Pride & Dedication” as a Lieutenant, Honor Guard member, and as a Technician on the Department’s Statewide Hazmat Decontamination Team. It was as a member of the “DECON TEAM” that he was deployed with other first responders from throughout Rhode Island in 2005 to New Orleans to assist with the aftermath from Hurricane Katrina. Chris also chaired the committee to design the Department’s new ladder truck “Quint 1” delivered last year.

Further, he works part time as an EMT for West Greenwich Emergency Services providing patient care to the residents and visitors to that busy rural community. He also serves as the Cache Coordinator and as a dedicated member of the Rhode Island LAST whose mission is to provide funeral services for fallen public safety officers throughout the State. Chris is a Pro-Board-certified Firefighter I/II, Driver-Operator, Fire Instructor, Safety Officer, Aerial Operator and Fire Officer. He has also taken numerous classes at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.

At home, Chris is married to his wife Carrie for 26 years and has two children Logan 13 and Mackenzie 21. He spends countless hours caring for the families’ horse and pets with their dog Oliver by his side. He also enjoys countless hours in the yard, along with baseball games or horse shows with his family. He is also known for his firehouse style meals using his Johnson & Whales bachelor’s degree on occasion!

We are pleased to welcome Chris to our team of dedicated professionals that make up the Watch Hill Fire Department. He is excited to hit the ground running providing assistance to the District’s residents, visitors, business community, and builders through his work in the fire prevention office. He can be reached by phone in the Station at 401-348-8932 and by email at cmoore@watchhillfire.com
