A quiet ceremony was held this morning at the 9/11 Memorial at the Watch Hill Fire Station.

The memorial consists of five red, white, and blue fire hydrants surrounding a piece of steel that was salvaged from Ground Zero at the World Trade Center. The plague on the Memorial reads;

This piece of steel is a historical artifact that was salvaged from the World Trade Center following the attacks against our country on September 11, 2001.

It was presented to the Watch Hill Fire Department to serve as a memorial to the firefighters and police officers that lost their lives on that tragic day as well as to serve as a tribute to the sacrifices that many members of our community put forth on that tragic day and in the months that followed,

WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
