The Watch Hill Fire Department recently asked residents to consider adopting a fire hydrant this winter near their home and clearing it after each storm to make it accessible. By clearing the hydrant of snow in 3 feet in all directions, they are helping us help them.

Of course, our firefighters are also out in the community shoveling the hydrants after every storm , but help is always appreciated.

On behalf of the Watch Hill Fire Department, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to assist the firefighters in clearing the district's fire hydrants during the recent snowstorms. Thank you for doing your part to make our community safer.

On a lighter note, the fire station's collection of more than two hundred colorful fire hydrants did not require extensive clearing.
