The members of the Watch Hill Fire Department were honored to have our company chaplain, Rev. Dr. Cal Lord of Central Baptist Church join us at our meeting on Tuesday night. In honor of the 17th anniversary of the attack on our nation on 9/11, Rev. Lord offered a brief prayer service and time of reflection at our 9/11 memorial on the grounds of the fire station. In his prayers, he not only remembered those lost but, those who still serve and asked for our protection.

During our monthly meeting, Chief Bob Peacock announced that Cal is our volunteer of the month! During each monthly meeting, a member of the department is recognized for "going above and beyond" during the past month. Cal has been a dedicated Chaplain to our department for the past several years. He advocates for us, prays for us, and is always available when needed. In addition to joining us on Tuesday night, Cal has been working with local first responders and the local clergy association to plan the 3rd annual first responder appreciation and prayer service.

The event begins with a blessing of the apparatus at Central Baptist Church at 4:30pm on Sunday. Participants will then process to Christ Church on Elm Street at 5:00 pm for a prayer service and a brief sermon by Rev. Dr. Cal Lord. Cal noted that this year's service is celebrating first responders and their families. All are welcome!

We appreciate the dedication of our Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Cal Lord and look forward to working with him in the future. Congratulations to our September volunteer of the month!
