Watch Hill Firefighters were busy on Tuesday when a thunderstorm moved quickly through the area and knocked out power to most of the village. Seventeen Watch Hill firefighters handled nine emergency calls in the span of ninety minutes including a propane explosion inside a residence on Foster Cove Road, a structure fire on Waters Edge, smoke inside the Yacht Club, smoke in the area of the Ocean House, four fire alarm activations and a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Firefighters with Westerly Ladder 1 and Engine 1 also responded to the village to provide station coverage and scene assistance.
