WHFD Urges Fireworks Safety

As the Fourth of July approaches, many families will enjoy the nation's birthday with fireworks. In recent years the state of Rhode Island has legalized certain types of consumer works. While the members of the WHFD encourage all of our residents to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones, we also urge you to do it safely. With that in mind, the Watch Hill Fire Department provides the following safety reminders when using fireworks:

1. Be aware of all local laws concerning the use of fireworks
2. Do not allow young children to use fireworks
3. Adults should supervise young adults while using fireworks.
4. Do not wear loose fitting clothing or have any part of your body directly over fireworks while lighting them.
5. Always have a bucket of water nearby in the event of an emergency or accident.

Please read the attached article and graphic for further tips on how to safely enjoy your holiday.
