Fire Police Sergeant Bob Perkins was presented with the annual "Shep Simmons Service to the Company Award" during the August meeting. The award is named for past Assistant Chief Shepard Simmons and is given each year to a member who not only goes above and beyond the call of duty as a member but also serves as a guide for our younger members and supports the department as a whole.

Since joining in 2002, Bob has proven to embody the spirit of Shep in assisting our members through training, incidents, and around the station. Bob is always present at emergency scenes securing the area, providing traffic control, and providing rehab for our firefighters. In addition, he serves as one of our company stewards and is always sure our volunteers are fed after training and our kitchen remains stocked. He assists in taking photos at training and is often the first person a resident may talk to when encountering an emergency or training scene. It is also not uncommon to see Bob smiling as he is cracking a joke at the station or helping to make a difficult call a bit more bearable.

For these reasons and many others, Lieutenant Hannah Schilke, on of Bob's nominators and Deputy Chief Jason Simmons, the son of Shep, presented the 2018 Shep Simmons Service to the Company Award to Fire Police Sergeant Bob Perkins.

Thank you Bob for all you do for us and "May the Shepard Continue to Watch Over us All!
