By Lieutenant Christopher Koretski
August 16, 2018

At 9:50 PM on Wednesday night, Watch Hill Firefighters responded along with automatic mutual aid from Westerly Fire to a home on Pasadena Avenue for a reported structure fire. The 911 caller reported that he had a fire in the home with heavy smoke and that he was evacuating with his two children.

Firefighters from Watch Hill arrived within three minutes to find a light smoke condition in the house and an electrical burning smell. The crews on scene searched the residence and investigated with thermal imaging cameras, an electrical current detector, and a heat gun. The source was determined to be faulty wiring on an overloaded electrical circuit.

In total, eleven Watch Hill volunteers responded for the emergency call. These individuals left their homes, children, families, and jobs to assist their community. We appreciate their dedication!

Special thanks also to the volunteers of the Westerly Fire Department who are always ready to assist us! In addition, the Westerly Police Department and Westerly Building Official assisted on the scene.
