Two of the Watch Hill Fire Department's most active and respected members, Lieutenant Hannah Schilke and her sister Firefighter Rachel Schilke, were recently honored by the Dunns Corners Fire Department when they were presented with the Department's Medal of Merit award.

While driving through New Jersey, the sisters came upon a one car motor vehicle accident involving a car into a tree. Two of the three passengers in the car were trapped while one was able to self extricate. Upon arrival, Hannah and Rachel provided initial first aid, helped control bleeding and opened the passenger's airway. When the local fire department arrived, Hannah and Rachel assisted in the deployment of the initial handline and assisted in the extrication of the remaining passangers.

The members of the Watch Hill Fire Department would like to extend our most sincere congratulations to both Hannah and Rachel for putting their training to good use when others were in need. Well done Hannah and Rachel. Congratulations and Thank You!
